Arner Green WIND FARM

Operation

When the turbines are in operation normal requirements for access are limited. Routine maintenance is usually undertaken from a small van every three months. The turbines are monitored remotely so there is no need for more frequent visits. The control systems in the turbines are fail-safe so if a fault does occur the turbines stop automatically and communicate with the operating company via a telephone line.

Decommissioning

The wind farm is expected to have an operational life of approximately 20 years. After this time, the wind farm would be decommissioned in about 3 months and the site returned to its former use.
